Dermatology

Dermatology is a medical sub-specialty focused on diagnosing and treating conditions related to the skin, hair, and nails. Dermatologists use a range of treatments, from topical therapies to advanced procedures like laser surgery, and may also specialize in cosmetic dermatology or dermatopathology for more complex diagnoses. In sub-Saharan Africa, dermatology addresses a wide range of skin conditions, including infectious diseases like fungal infections, leprosy, and HIV-related skin disorders, as well as non-infectious issues such as eczema, acne, psoriasis, skin cancer and pigmentation disorders.
