Urticaria

Background

Urticaria, or hives, in darker-skinned individuals may appear as raised, swollen welts that can be darker or less noticeable depending on skin tone, but are typically very itchy. These welts can vary in size and shape, and often appear and disappear rapidly on different parts of the body. Treatment includes antihistamines to relieve itching and reduce hives, along with avoiding known triggers, while severe cases may require corticosteroids or immunosuppressive medications.
