Tinea pedis
Tinea pedis, or athlete’s foot, in darker-skinned individuals typically presents as itchy, scaly patches on the soles of the feet or between the toes, with the redness often appearing darker or less visible due to pigmentation differences. This fungal infection is caused by dermatophytes such as Trichophyton and thrives in warm, moist environments like shoes or public showers. Treatment involves antifungal creams or sprays like terbinafine or clotrimazole, along with keeping the feet dry and wearing breathable footwear to prevent recurrence.
