Psoriasis

Background

Psoriasis in darker-skinned individuals can appear as violet, gray, or dark brown patches, which may be more difficult to diagnose compared to lighter skin tones. The condition can cause significant post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, where skin darkening occurs after flare-ups, even after the psoriasis is under control. Treatment options include topical corticosteroids, vitamin D analogs, phototherapy, and biologics, with special care given to minimize hyperpigmentation and scarring.
