Pemphigus foliaceus
Background
Pemphigus foliaceus, common in sub-Saharan Africa, is an autoimmune blistering disorder affecting the skin, often triggered by environmental factors like UV exposure or infections. It presents with superficial, scaly lesions primarily on the face, scalp, and trunk. Treatment includes systemic corticosteroids, azathioprine, or mycophenolate, along with wound care and infection prevention in resource-limited settings.
