Candida Intertrigo

Background

Candida intertrigo in darker-skinned individuals appears as red, inflamed patches in skin folds such as the armpits, groin, or under the breasts, and may cause darkening or lightening of the skin. The condition is caused by an overgrowth of Candida yeast in warm, moist environments, leading to irritation, itching, and sometimes fissures or oozing. Treatment involves topical antifungal creams like clotrimazole or miconazole, keeping the affected area dry, and using barrier creams to protect the skin from further irritation.
