Disecting Cellulitis
Dissecting cellulitis, also known as perifolliculitis capitis abscedens et suffodiens, is a chronic inflammatory scalp disorder characterized by painful nodules, abscesses, and scarring alopecia. The condition primarily affects men of African descent and is more prevalent in Sub-Saharan Africa due to genetic and environmental factors. It results from follicular occlusion, leading to recurrent infections and sinus tract formation that can cause permanent hair loss if untreated. Early diagnosis, proper hygiene, and long-term medical management are essential for controlling inflammation, preventing complications, and improving scalp health.
