Measles
Background
Measles in darker-skinned individuals typically presents with the classic symptoms of a high fever, cough, runny nose, and the characteristic red, blotchy rash, which may be harder to distinguish on darker skin. The rash usually starts on the face and spreads to the body, and the person may experience conjunctivitis and sensitivity to light. Treatment focuses on supportive care, including fever management, hydration, and vitamin A supplementation to reduce the risk of complications, while vaccination is the most effective preventive measure.
