Vesicating Beetles (Blister Beetle) Dermatitis

Background

Vesicating beetle dermatitis, caused by contact with blister beetles, can lead to painful blisters or erosions that may be less visually prominent but still cause significant skin irritation in darker-skinned individuals. The affected area often shows redness, swelling, and fluid-filled blisters after exposure to the beetle’s toxin. Treatment involves cleansing the skin, using topical corticosteroids to reduce inflammation, and preventing secondary infections with antibiotics if necessary.
